Unfortunately, I’ve been doing less yoga than I originally had hoped to do. I did one class on Tuesday (I missed Monday for AP tests). In the yoga class I did Tuesday I learned that although a lot of people do yoga to increase their strength and flexibility the practice of yoga is done primarily to be able to attain a deeper state of resting than otherwise possible. Most yoga sessions end with a five-minute resting period where everyone lies on the floor and become completely relaxed. The instructor explained that the hour of yoga we did was in order to relax as deeply and fully in these five minutes. The really nice thing about the Creative Healing Center is that unlike places like Cleveland City Yoga and other big gym like places this yoga class had only four people in it including Ezgi and me. The teacher can really focus on our personally need because of the class size. When not doing Yoga, Ezgi and I are in the raw foods kitchen section of the healing center. For the past two days we have cleaned a lot of celery, cucumber, and kale. The raw foods kitchen makes “green smoothies,” which is literally just the juice from celery, cucumber, parsley and lemon. The drink is supposed to balance your body and detoxify it so that you can be healthier, cleaner, and happier. Everyone at the center drinks a quart a day and the person who runs the raw foods kitchen wants Ezgi and I to drink at least a pint a day; the problem with that plan is the smoothies are pretty bad tasting.
