Yesterday, I wasn't the only student working at Habitat for Humanity. Some kids from Notre Dame Cathedral Latin came to help prepare for Saturday's Youth United cookout. They were divided into two groups; one who would prepare the location of the event and the other who would work on the toolboxes that were going to be sold at the cookout. I worked with the group making the toolboxes. Things certainly felt livelier with people close to my age around.
Though I didn't use the power tools I had seen used yesterday (blades meant for cutting large pieces of wood), I did end up using a drill to screw the pieces of wood together. After I realized that you needed to have a firm grip on the drill, I found the device very easy to use. Apart form that, I mostly measured lengths of wood so I could indicate to others where they had to cut the wood. I also aided the NDCL students in sanding the toolboxes after they had been made.
Unfortunately, the NDCL students left at 1:30 and my Senior Project continued until 4:30. The remaining three hours of the day were spent on data entry; I had to record the names and addresses of the NDCL students who had just recently left.
